Sound Vision Studio (Saterday, 14 September, 2021)

Yesterday we (a small group of 8 students) visited Sound Vision Studio in Arnhem as part of our training at Sound Education Nederland. We got information about the construction of the studio (including acoustics and isolation), the recording area, and the production room. There was also a new keyboard room with several vintage synthesizers, a fender rhodes, and a mixing desk. The recording area was very large and could harbour up to about 100 musicians for (live) recording. The recording area hosted a grand piano, two upright pianos, a hammond and leslie, and a drumkit. On the balustrade there were many guitar amplifiers (e.g., for re-amping). The production room was build around pro-tools and many hardware processors (compressors, EQ, etc) and effects (e.g., lexicon). A narrow but long corridor served as a room to record reverb. All-in-all very interesting and inspiring.

It turned out that White Sea Studio (started in 2014 by Wytse Gerichhausen) was also hiring a room in the building. We had a quick peek inside his studio as well. He had just reorganized his studio as you can see on YouTube.
