IK Multimedia Amplitube 5 MAX

Amplitube 5 MAX from IK Multimedia is the successor of AmpliTube 4.

Amplitube 5 MAX is a guitar and bass tone studio that works as a standalone application and as a plug-in Cubase. AmpliTube recreates the entire guitar/bass signal chain from instrument to recording device, and does so in a very realistic and intuitive way. AmpliTube pioneered — and leads the way in — guitar amp and effects modeling.

I use Amplitube 5 regularly in Cubase during mixing of guitar parts, but also with RealGuitar from MusicLab or my Roland AX-Synth.

Routing

AmpliTube 5 can easily be used with any virtual (guitar) instrument inside a DAW such as Cubase by selecting it as a VST3 plugin. However, you can use Amplitube 5 also outside the DAW as a standalone application. For example, if you want to route RealStrat (as stand-alone) to Amplitube 5 (as stand-alone) then you need to route the output of RealGuitar to the input of Amplitube 5. Unfortunately, Microsoft Windows 10 does not allow this (see also Streaming for more information about this). However, you can use Virtual Audio Cable, or VoiceMeeter from VB-Audio to make such connection. In this case the output of  RealStrat is fed into a Virtual Cable and the output of this Virtual Cable is fed into Amplitube 5 (see image below). VoiceMeeter allows the same but has a user-interface for additional control and flexibility.
