Fender Mustang GTX50 guitar amplifier
The Mustang GTX50 is a 50W guitar amplifier from Fender, which I use to amplify my Fender Rhodes Mark II. On the back it is two balanced outputs that allows me to connect it directly to my X32 mixer for recording or for playing on my studio speakers.
Mustang GTX is a so-called modelling amplifier comprising a wide selection amp models, effects, and 200 onboard presets that provide guitar tones you need for almost any type of music but also for the Fender Rhodes. It has a modular signal path that allows to move effects anywhere in the chain. The cabinet houses a new 12-inch Celestion (G12P-80) speaker (80-5000Hz). Note that the Fender Rhodes has a frequency range of 41 Hz to 2600 kHz for the 73-key model that I own.
Stereo XLR outputs (which are microphone level!) and stereo effects loop let you interface with PA, recording and outboard gear. I use it together with a seven-button footswitch (GTX-7) to select presets, turn on/off individual presets, or the use the 60-seconds looper function. The amplifier can be connected with Bluetooth to my iPad and Android phone, which allows easy editing of the presets. Further Tone Tips can be found at the Fender website [here].
On top of the Mustang GTX50 we find all controls and buttons to navigate through the menu’s. The LCD screen shows the current selected preset. However, it is easier to control the Mustang from the Fender tone app on a iPad.

On the top of the GTX there is a LCD display and several buttons to select and configure the presets.
Connection through Bluetooth allows to control the amplifier through an iPad or Phone.
I use the GTX50 amplifier together with the GTX-7 footswitch.

I use the GXT 50 to simulated the Fender Twin Reverb which is considered the best Rhodes amplifier and was used by most Rhodes players in the 1970’s.
