Start of Mixclub-22 (Sunday, 30 October 2022)
Together with several other (former) students of the Sound Education Nederland E21 class, I initiated the first preparations for the Mixclub ’22. See [here] for more information. See [here] for the mixes.
Our goals are
- Become more proficient in mixing and mastering.
- Learning to mix and master quickly
- Learning to critically assess (own) mixes and masters
- Improving and concretizing your mix/master assessments
Currently, about 10 persons decided to join.
The overall idea is to mix and master one multi-track every 2 months, and to provide critical feedback for two fellow participants in the club.
We will use multi-tracks from Cambridge Music Technologies or other resources. We adopted HiDrive from Strato to collect and exchange the multitracks, mixes, masters, and feedbacks. In addition, we have setup a private Facebook group (mixclub-22) for general communication.
To provide critical feedback, a template has been designed as a guide. The main idea is to provide concrete feedback that helps the creator of the mix/master to make improvements. Optionally, each participant can master the mix of someone else. It’s probably illustrative to hear how the master you made yourself (which you can’t really do) differs from the master made by another person.

The first multi-track that we worked on was Devil’s Words from the band ‘Actions’, with one minor challenge to replace the kick trigger with actual kick samples.
